Veduta Sopra
The Island of Capri, located off the coast of Naples, is encompassed by the crystal clear cobalt blue Tyrrhenian Sea and has always been popular with the rich and famous. Limestone cliffs and beachside villas directly overlook the sea below. Caesar Agustus was the first to discover Capri when he first visited in 29 BC and chose to trade the fertile Island of Ischia for it with the city of Naples. His successor, Tiberius, then embarked on a villa building campaign. At the time, the Blue Grotto sea cave was used as his personal swimming hole.
